スカイツリーと江戸紫： Sky Tree and the color of Edo-purple
関西人と後発の関東人は、江戸時代から何かと張り合っていたのでしょうね。
Yoshy guess that people in the Kansai region and ones in the Kanto region were competing each other in Edo period; even still now, too.
スカイツリーになぜ「江戸紫」を灯すのか？
Do you know why the color of Edo-purple is sometimes lit on the Sky Tree?
「鴨川、鴨川と自慢をするねぇ、悔しきゃ紫染めてみろ」：古い、やけな川柳を思い出しました。この句は正確なものではありませんが。
When watching the poster, Yoshy happened to remember an old and desperate senryu, which is a seventeen-syllable poem and often satirical of the time. The old poem means “Don’t be proud of Kamo-river so much; you can’t dye the color of purple, can you?” This poem might be a little different from its original, though.
京友禅の、一色、「紫」だけは、江戸の玉川でないと、鮮やかな色合いが出なかったそうです。
I hear that only one color of “purple” in Kyo-yuzen couldn’t be clearly dyed if they didn’t use the water of Tama-river in Edo, Tokyo.
子供のころ、ヨッシーは、三木のり平さんがテレビで宣伝していた「海苔の佃煮」の事だと思っていました。
In Yoshy’s childhood, a comedian, Miki Norihei used to publicized “laver boiled down in soy” named “Edo-Murasaki” on TV. So didn’t think “Edo-murasaki” was the color of purple at all.
