This blog is a sequel to the earlier one about “The letter by Ms. Sugimoto Etsuko” Yoshy wrote on Saturday, October 20th.

The late Mrs. Etsuko Sugimoto’s rare letter was found! It was printed on Niigata-Nippo on Friday, November 19th.

Yoshy couldn’t one word in her letter. So I asked Ms. Kohara about it. On Sunday, October 21st, she answered me by email. Yoshy agreed with her, too.

The one word is “contious” which was seen by Yoshy on Ms. Sugimoto’s letter as follows.

My dear Mr. Stillharmer,

Your conscious letter was received with appreciation. It was very kind of you and Mrs. Bave to have called upon me and my little family.

This word, “contious” doesn’t exist, so I (Ms. K) think it must be misspelling; but I have a conviction.

We don’t usually use this in this case of expression; but as there’s a meaning; “notice” in this word, “conscious”, maybe she wanted to write that “It is very kind of you to have written to me.”

One of Yoshy’s friends, Professor Wright (Special Advisor of Myoko Powerful English Club (M-PEC), Otsuma Women’s University …) was very kind enough to have proofread her letter found recently. Thank you VERY much, sir!

** means Yoshy’s typing. (Yoshy isn’t sure of the underlined.) Next is Professor Wright’s proofread one and Yoshy’s translation into Japanese in every paragraph.
