教会のバザーに参加：Joined Bazaar of Heaven’s Gate Chapel
6月2日(日)、午後2時ころから1時間、Rといっしょに、バザーを楽しんできました。
On Sunday, June 2nd, from around 2:00 pm, Yoshy and R enjoyed Bazaar of Heaven‘s Gate Chapel for an hour.
ちょうど、2回目の「餅つき」の最中でした。暑い日でした。
When we arrived there, the second pounding rice-cake was being done. It was very hot.
玄関先に「姫竹」(この辺では『竹の子』と呼んでいます。) が2~30本で僅か400円で売られていました。3束買いました。
There were “Hime-take bamboo shoots” – we call this ‘Takenoko’ - out on the porch. The price of one bunch of two or three decades was only 400 yen. We bought three bunches.
礼拝ホールは、バザーの品々が並んでいました。
There were as usual lots of various cheap-priced goods in the chapel.
LLシホヤ新井教室・事務所用に「コーヒーカップ・6客セット」が500円…買いました。
Yoshy found “a box of six coffee cups” whose price was 500 yen; I got it for LL-office of LL Shihoya Arai School.
ナットキンコールのCDが100円！これも買って、今、大好きな「モナリサ」、「スターダスト」…を聞きながら書いています。今回の最高の掘り出しものでした！
The CD of Nat King Cole was only 100 yen! I’m enjoying listening to my favorites: his “Mona Lisa”, “Stardust”, etc. It was the best bargain there! They were all good buys!
早津牧師ご夫妻と立ち話をしてから、Rと「大根おろし、クルミ味噌」の2種類で、つきたての餅を食べました。美味しくて、家族の夕食用に持ち帰りました。
After standing around chatting with Pastor Hayatsu and his wife, we had rice-cake just after pounded with the two kinds of pastes: “grated radish and walnut dressed with bean-paste” It was so good that we had two packs taken out for our family.
帰路、ヨッシーの同級生が住職のK寺に寄って、教室用の「七夕の竹」を近々頂きにゆくことを頼んできました。
On the way back home, we popped in one of Yoshy’s old classmates who is the master of K-temple, asking him that Yoshy could get “a bamboo tree for Star Festival” for LL Shihoya Arai School in the near future.
「七夕祭り」は、神道かな？… 教会とお寺の半日…面白い国ですね。
Is “Tanabata or Star Festival in Japan” one of the events of Shinto? … Anyway, we had a good time at Church and Temple in the afternoon. Hum… How interesting this country is!
