Since I’m sure the person who wrote below is one of native “teachers of making questions of Eiken in The Society for Testing English Proficiency, Inc. (STEP)”, this kind of essay would be a good example for practicing writing English for both Yoshy and Yoshy’s Blog-readers.

I *received a call from a friend one Sunday morning last month. She had received two free tickets to a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, given by university students and *alumni, and was inviting me.
先月のある日曜日の朝、友だちから電話がかかってきました。ベートーベンの第九シンフォニー演奏への無料券2枚を大学の学生や卒業生たちから譲られたというのです。私を招待してくれました。
<received a call：電話を受けた>
<alumni [ə l ʌ́ mnai]：alumnus [ə l ʌ́ mn ə s]の複数形：大学の男子卒業生。女性形= alumnaだが、男女両方を指す場合は= alumni>
It used to be an old habit of mine to celebrate the winter season by going to listen to the Ninth Symphony. Over the *past decade or so, however, I never *felt like going, probably because I was too busy. *That being said, I *missed my old habit and had felt like *resuming it this year, although I was *hesitant to actually purchase a ticket.
第九を聴きに行って冬の季節を祝うことは、私のかつての習慣だったのです。10年くらいになるでしょうか、でも私は行く気になれなかったのです。多分忙しすぎたからでしょうね。それはそれとして、その当時の習慣を作れなくてさびしい気持ちもありましたし、実際1枚の切符を買うことをためらっていましたが、再開したい気持ちもあったのです。

So, I was surprised at the *coincidence when my friend invited me and was also *grateful to her. Thus, I happily accepted her offer, although the concert itself was to be held in the afternoon I received the call.
ですから、その友達が私を招待してくれた偶然に驚きましたし、彼女に感謝もしました。こんなわけで、コンサートが電話がかかってきたその午後だったにもかかわらず、申し出を嬉しく承諾したという次第です。

The members of the orchestra and *choir were university students and alumni, and the only professionals performing were the conductor and the four soloists. *And yet, the concert turned out to be *superb.
オーケストラと合唱の構成員は大学生と卒業生で、指揮者と4名のソリスト(独唱者)だけがプロでした。それにもかかわらず、演奏会は実に見事でした。

*As far as I could tell, the orchestra played beautifully and dynamically, and the chorus sang *flawlessly. I had tears streaming down my cheeks at the end. It was an amazing experience and will *definitely stay in my mind *for a long time.
個人的な感想ですが、オーケストラは申し分なくダイナミックに演奏しましたし、合唱は完璧でした。終わりの部分では涙が頬に流れていました。それは素晴らしい体験でしたから、私の心に当分焼き付いて忘れられないことでしょう。
