♥私の旧友・早津 栄牧師さん (奥様は、早津由美さん)が3月で*牧会 (ぼっかい) からリタイアなさいます. 海外の私の友人に、クリスチャンで、彼の友人・知人が沢山おられますので、クリスチャンではない「私との長い友情の日々」の一端を、彼の新たな門出の記念に、ここに.

 

*牧会（ぼっかい、英:Pastoral Care）とは、キリスト教の中で、プロテスタントおよび正教会における、牧師・司祭のミニストリー(聖職者達)、人間の魂への配慮である。 医学、心理学など世俗の用語としても使われ、英語から「パストラルケア」とも音写される. (From ウィキペディア)

 

Pastor, Sakae Hayatsu, one of my old friends is to retire from his *pastoral care this March. I have many foreign friends living in abroad who know him or are friends with him, so let me introduce some memorial pictures of “friendly long days with me” here as a token of wishing his *Godspeed; though I’m not a Christian.

♦1964年当時の「新井聖書教会」側からの撮影. 宣教師のお名前は、レスリー・グロウブさんでした. その年の8月、彼は、私を野尻湖の別荘へ招待して下さいました. 事後、「初めての英会話」の題で作文を書きました. 早津 栄さんも、斐太中学校の生徒だったはずです. ♦早津さんは、その教会で、信仰心に目覚め、私は、英語の楽しさを実感しました.

 

♦A picture from the opposite side where Arai Bible Church was. The missionary’s name is the late Mr. Leslie Grove, who introduce me his villa on a hill by Nojiriko-lake in August, 1964. I wrote an essay, “My First English Conversation” after that. I didn’t know Mr. Pastor Hayatsu then; he was, I suppose, also a student of Hida Junior High School.

♦Mr. Hayatsu found his awakening to a religious faith there, and I found the pleasure of studying English conversation there.

<4d: 1982年夏、早津さんと聖書学習のため、アラバマ州、モンゴメリーから訪日、新井聖書教会で過ごしていたトム君. : Tom was staying at Arai Bible Church from Montgomery, Alabama, USA with Mr. Hayatsu; they were studying the Testaments.>

トム君と友人になりたくて、この頃、新井聖書教会で早津さんと出逢いました.

I first met Mr. Hayatsu in there so that I’d like to be able to be friends with Tom.

♦彼が帰国してからも数年通いました. 米国からの若い優秀なクリスチャン達が、奉仕活動として日本人に英会話を教えてくれていました. 早津さんは、ここで牧師の資格を得ました.

I continued staying there for a few times, every summer. Many smart young Christians from USA were helping us Japanese to learn English conversation as volunteering. Mr. Hayatsu became a pastor there.

<4i: 1985年夏の、関山・サンバードインホテルでの「LL サマースクール」では、リース家族のリチャード君とお姉さんのダイアンさんがALTになって下さいました.: Richard Rees and his elder sister, Dian joined “LL Summer School” at Hotel, Sunbird Inn in Sekiyama District in summer, 1985.>

♦「LLサマースクール」は、1975年から、Rと私の生涯の友人、ソーシーさんと出逢った1996年まで22回続きました.

“LL Summer School” started in 1975 and ended in 1996, when we met one of R and my lifelong friends, Ms. Yap Socy. “LL Summer School” was held every summer, 22 times.

♥こうして回想してみると、友人、早津 栄さんのお蔭で、様々な外国友人とご縁 (仏教用語でごめんなさい.) が出来ています. 以下に、今でもe-mailなどでお付き合いしている、お世話になった友人のお名前を順不同で…感謝と共に！敬称略.
